The St James Palace Stakes Odds were confirmed with Canford Cliffs cruising up to take the finishing post in some style on Day 1, he came past stablemate Dick Turpin well and never looked back to justify the punters who made him the favourite. Hearts Of Fire ran a blinder to come in third at a great price but the real winner was Canford Cliffs who looks a real superstar in the making. Tips On Horse Betting: How To Earn From Your Bets On Horses
A very effective horse race betting strategy that every bettor should know is this: find out about the performance and statistics of the horse. It is not enough that you find out how the horse fared in the most recent race; you should look at all the other races ran by your ‘candidate’ and compare it with the statistics or performance records of other race horses. You should not make bets on horses without knowing this information/data, or else, you’ll end up picking a losing horse, which means that you’ll lose money, too. Included in the tips on horse betting is also for you to check out other data such as the health condition of the horses, the distances they excel in, and so on.
Find out about the track your candidate horse excels in
Part of the list of winning horse racing tips is for horse bettors to learn about the kind of track a horse performs well in. You see, there are different types of racing tracks e.g. dry tracks, wet tracks, etc, and it is seldom that you’ll find a horse that excels in both track types. Before placing bets on horses, therefore, remember this horse race betting strategy: research on the track type a horse does a good job in, and before wagering, find out if the race track to be used in the event is the one ‘preferred’ by your chosen horse.
Select the easier types of bets
One of the tips on horse betting that you should not forget is to place the right bets. You see, there are various types of bets that you can make as a horse bettor, and of course, not all of those bets are recommended, especially if you’re a newbie bettor. Included in winning horse racing tips is to place the so called win bets or single bets, which are bets/wagers that are easier to win in, compared to exotic bets e.g. trifectas and exactas, which are difficult to triumph over, though they can give you greater earnings.
Making bets on horses can be a way you can earn extra cash. Remember though that without applying tips on horse betting, you’ll find it quite difficult to make winning wagers.

Sports Betting – Spread Versus Money Line
More times than not sports bettors will be given the choice between either playing the point spread or the moneyline. The point spread gives points to one team, the underdog, while it takes points away from favorite. This is done to attract bets on both sides of the action. The winner of this type of bet is determined by the final score plus-or-minus the spread.
The moneyline is a straight bet in which the winner is decided by whichever team actually won the game. The final score of the game is the only determining factor. The moneyline is designed to even out the action by requiring that gamblers put more cash down on the favorite to win less money, while bettors who choose the underdog place less money down to win a greater amount.
Money Factors
One factor that will help you determine which bet to place is the manner in which gamblers put money down on the spread and the line. We’ll use as our example a typical $100 bet. When wagering on the spread, whether you chose the favorite or underdog, you’re going to put the same amount of cash down, $110 on a $100 wager. (The extra $10 is the commission that goes to the bookmaker.) If you win, you’ll get $200 back, reaping a profit of $100.
If you utilize the moneyline, you put $100 down on the underdog to win anywhere from $110 to $500, depending on how likely it is that the team will lose. On the other hand, if wagering on the favorite club, you’ll be asked to risk anywhere from $110 to $400 to earn $100.
If you’re going with the favored team, the point spread requires the least investment. But ifbetting the underdog as far as payoff is concerned the moneyline is the best deal. Of course in making these choices, you need to be as sure as you can that either the favorite can beat the spread or the team that’s not favored will pull an upset outright.
Point Spread
There are a few reasons to play the point spread. Take the favorite minus the points if they’ve been ripping up the field and they have a solid defense. Additionally, keep track of how often each team beats the spread. Certain clubs will do this more than others. They are often safer bets when it comes to the utilizing this method.
If the underdog has a tendency to keep games close and they match-up well against their opponent, playing them on the line could be the way to go. This is especially true if they field a stingy defense.
Moneyline
If the game looks close and you’re going with the favorite then it makes sense to take the moneyline. Even though it costs more, you won’t have to deal with the points. As far as wagering on the underdog, the moneyline is often exceptionally attractive since it offers a comparatively hefty payoff. If prior to the game one of the favorite team’s top players suffers an injury, if they’re starting to show fatigue part way through the season or if they’re caught up in a controversy that steals their focus, consider betting the underdog.
The NFL is a tough cookie for sports bettors to crack. The fact is that on any given week more than half of the favorite teams won’t cover the spread and yet in those same games more than half of the underdogs won’t pull an upset. That’s what makes handicapping so difficult. Study the teams, match ups and trends to decide which type of wager to make and go for it.

2010 Victoria Cup Field And Tips
Tonight sees the running of the 2010 Victoria Cup at Tabcorp Park Melton Victoria , this time honored event is widely regarded as the Cox Plate of Harness Racing. The Field assembled tonight is very hot and despite the omission of the greatest pacer of all time Blacks A Fake the race promises to be a great spectacle. The early betting fixed market odds are up at Luxbet
There should be a decent lead time set up in this race as it is likely that former Victorian Horse of the YearMelpark Major is likely to be stoked up from barrier one by Amy Stubbs to try and hold the lead but he is going to be tested as Mr Feelgood , Washakie , Im Themighyquinn and Lonestar Legend all have high gate speed and will be looking for positions. It is possible that should Melpark Major hold the lead then Im Themightyquinn might just be able to drop in behind the leader from barrier 2 and get the gun run because there is no way Melpark Major will hand up the lead is he finds it. If this is the scenario then i would expect Mr Feelgood to find the early position outside the leader with Washakie on his back. Lonestar Legend will come out early but we doubt the lead or the deathseat will be there and will have to drop back to find a position.
We would then expect Lance Justice on the 2010 Miracle Mile winner Smoken Up take off as soon as they try and take a breather upfront and take up the position outside the leader and dictate the race from there but giving cover to likely race favorite Mr Feelgood. But if he can sit outside the champ Blacks a Fake and beat him in the Miracle Mile then he will have every chance to beat these from that same position. Smoken Up did not handle the tight track at Cranbourne last start in the Cranbourne Cup but he loves it here.
The up and coming star Villagem has made his open company debut this year having just turned five and is starting to measure up very well after finishing third in the Miracle Mile and then was the run of the race from the horror draw and not suited in the Cranbourne Cup , if driven patiently and there is a hot speed on up front he can get a nice run into the race and will be strong on the line. Im Themightyquinn got all the favors last start and is likely to get them again so he can fill a place or even win.
Kiwi raider Sleepy Tripp is a good horse and they wouldn’t be here to make up the numbers , has raced the best in his country , dont worry about the draw Mark Purdon will give him every chance. Mr Feelgood from the draw will be hard to beat but not sure he is racing at his absolute best but that can turn around very quickly and it wouldn’t surprise us to see him win but we just cant get on at his short quote.
The Races.com.au tips are
Smoken Up to win currently at $5 with Luxbet those odds just seem too good to pass up. Villagem for second at $12 and Im Themightyquinn for third at $4 . First 4 chance The Sleepy Tripp and Melpark Major. We have taken a set against Mr Feelgood seems to race better when he finds the lead and its unlikely he will here , and he goes better when there isnt a much pressure on him , we know he won the Interdominion coming from well back but it was probably the greatest drive you have ever seen and got a nice run through the race. We think he is worth laying at $3.30 , its far too short in this field and in a high pressure race over a distance greater than a mile and we will stick our head out and say its probably a better field ( with the exception of Blackie ) than the Interdominion he won.
